It's Cool to be Kind!

Hi there!
I’m Victoria! I live in Gilbert, Arizona, and I'm the owner of ToyBoxTown, an e-commerce small business dedicated to our mission: "Swipe Less and Play More!"
I’m also a mom to two wonderful kids, Christian (3) and Camila (5). Our household is buzzing with excitement as Camila starts kindergarten, Christian masters potty training (though I won’t miss diaper changes!), and we welcome Wrigley, our Mini Bernedoodle, into the family.
With Camila starting kindergarten last month, we’ve already encountered some challenges. She came home from school one day asking me what “bullying” meant, which caught me off guard. I hadn’t expected her to ask such a question at such a young age. It struck me that she was now in a new environment with kids older than her, stepping beyond the familiar daycare setting she once knew.
I sat her down to explain what a bully is and emphasized how important it is to be kind, share her toys, and always be patient and calm with other children at school.
She told me that some older girls had made her best friend cry, and she had told them to stop or she would tell the teacher. These older girls called her a bully and ran away.
A few days later, Camila mentioned that these girls were in her afterschool program and wouldn’t let her play with them, calling her a baby, which made her cry.
It’s heartbreaking to see how cruel kids can be, and I’ve made it a point to check in with her every day about her experiences and friendships.
Many children miss out on a wonderful school experience due to bullying. Bullying is an issue that affects many children across schools nationwide. If your child is experiencing bullying, you understand how deeply it can impact their happiness and well-being.
To address this epidemic, we need more of one thing in this world: KINDNESS.
Teaching our children about kindness from an early age helps them grow into compassionate individuals and plays a crucial role in reducing bullying at school.
There are simple ways to nurture kindness. For example, instead of asking, "How was your day?" try asking, "What did you do today to help a friend at school?"
Let’s teach our kids that their kind and actions have significance.
